Letter: Increase impact

Earlier this year, the Board called for a study by the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation to review the potential economic impacts of a minimum-wage increase in unincorporated areas of the county. I made a motion to ensure that small businesses play a role in this study by asking the Department of Business and Consumer Affairs to conduct hearings to give business owners the opportunity to comment on this potential ordinance. The current minimum wage in Los Angeles County is $9 an hour as set by state law. You may submit a written comment on our website at dcba.lacounty.gov . The comment period on the DCBA website will be open through Friday, May 22, 2015.
