A 30-year-old resident of Long Beach is dead after being hit by a vehicle in the 6400 block of Paramount Boulevard.
On Wednesday, June 17, at approximately 9:07pm, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were dispatched to the area regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they began providing first-aid to the male pedestrian, who had sustained major trauma, according to police. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will make positive identification and notification of the next of kin.
No witnesses to the collision came forward, and the suspect vehicle fled the scene. The suspect driver later called police dispatch to report that she had been involved in a hit-and-run 20 minutes earlier. It was determined that her vehicle was indeed the vehicle involved in the collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was in the roadway outside of any crosswalk when he was struck by a 2012 Lexus CT200H. The Lexus was traveling northbound on Paramount Boulevard, driven by a 37-year-old female resident of Long Beach. The investigation remains ongoing.
