A traffic collision July 9 involving two vehicles in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Falcon Avenue led to the death of a passenger, according the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
At approximately 9:44pm, LBPD officers were dispatched to the area regarding an injury traffic collision, where upon arrival, they discovered two vehicles were involved and a passenger had been ejected from one of the vehicles.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Ford Mustang, driven by a 19-year-old male resident of South Gate, attempted to make a left turn from eastbound Ocean Boulevard to northbound Falcon Avenue. The Mustang was struck by a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling westbound on Ocean Avenue, driven by a 17-year-old resident of Long Beach. The impact of the collision caused a passenger in the Ford Mustang, a 19-year-old female resident of Lynwood, to be ejected from the vehicle, according to officials.
The passenger sustained traumatic injuries. A witness to the collision attempted life-saving efforts until the arrival of the police and fire departments. Long Beach Fire Personnel transported the passenger to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Ford Mustang was also transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the collision.
