A Long Beach man is dead after succumbing to gunshot injuries sustained Wednesday.
On Sept. 16, at approximately 12:49am, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to the 1200 block of Chestnut Avenue regarding a shooting.
When officers arrived, they discovered a male adult down on the street after having been struck by gunfire. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Rodrigo Perez Salazar of Long Beach. The motive for the shooting is unclear, and the investigation remains ongoing.
