A motorcyclist is dead after a two-vehicle collision, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
On Saturday, Sept. 12 at 4:22pm, Long Beach Police responded to the area of Palo Verde Avenue and Don Julio Street regarding an injury traffic collision. When officers arrived, they discovered that a 2013 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle had collided with a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries as a result of the collision. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Based on independent witness statements and other evidence collected at the scene, the investigation revealed that the motorcyclist, a 25-year-old male resident of Long Beach, was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle. He drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on into the Chevrolet Tahoe.
The driver of the Tahoe, a 73-year-old female resident of Long Beach, and her passenger, a 53-year-old female resident of Long Beach, remained at the scene and were subsequently released. They did not sustain any injuries from the collision. The driver of the Tahoe had a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. There were no signs of impairment of the driver. The motorcyclist had a suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance. His impairment has not yet been determined. The identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office following notification of next of kin.
