More than 100 volunteers came out on Saturday, September 27 to help sweep, water trees, pull weeds, recover shopping carts and pick up trash along Atlantic Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard. The Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association hosted the clean-up event with the Eighth District Council Office.
Students, boy scouts, cub scouts, Bixby Knolls Strollers, and business owners grabbed bags and gloves too. Andrea Testa, owner of FreeSpirit Yoga, helped to clean the front and alley of the entire block where her studio is located.
California Heights resident Stacey Morrison said she enjoyed seeing so many people out and about contributing to the sprucing up of her area. “I drove up and down Atlantic and Long Beach Boulevard and, I must say, everything looked beautiful. I enjoyed seeing so many people out and about.”
