A man is dead after being struck by gunfire in north Long Beach.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, at approximately 4:11am, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to the 700 block of east 56th Street regarding a person being shot.
When officers arrived, they discovered a male adult down on the street after being struck by gunfire. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
His identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin. No suspect information is available at this time. The motive for this crime is unknown, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to the LBPD.
