The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Long Beach branch will host a fundraiser for fellowships and research and project grants on Saturday, Oct. 24. Titled “Luncheon Most Deadly,” the event will feature three mystery writers speaking after lunch.
Check-in will begin at 11am, and lunch will be served at noon. The fundraiser will take place at the Old Ranch Country Club, 3901 Lampson Ave., in Seal Beach. Old Ranch Country Club dress code will be in effect: no denim or strapless tops.
Terri Nolan is California born and raised. She grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and attended the University of Texas at Arlington, earning a bachelor of arts in communications in radio and television. She lives in Southern California and has a business background in radio, retail, oil, art and freelance reporting. She’s married and has two children. Her titles include Glass Houses, Burden of Truth, and Murder in La-La-Land.
Laurie Stevens is an award-winning novelist, screenwriter and playwright who has written for television, film and the stage with her play Follow Your Dreams, which ran for eight weeks in Los Angeles. Her Gabriel McRay books have become best-sellers and have won multiple awards. She lives in the Santa Monica Mountains with her husband and two children. Her books include The Dark Before Dawn, Deep Into Dusk and Last Exit to Murder.
Alice Zogg was born and raised in Switzerland. She met her husband in New York City and made her home in the United States. The family relocated to Southern California in 1967, and La Crescenta has been the author’s home town for more than 40 years. Her writing style favors the modern “old-fashioned” whodunit featuring her investigator, R.A. Huber, in a series of adventures including such titles as A Bet Turned Deadly, Guilty or Not, and The Fall of Optimum House.
