Fall fashion show to benefit college student program

“Fall Fashion 08,” a fashion show fundraiser to benefit Operation Jump Start, will take place Sunday, October 26 at The Reef, 880 S. Harbor Scenic Drive Long Beach, CA 90802.
From 11 a.m. to noon, attendees can participate in a silent auction featuring a variety of exciting items donated by local businesses followed by lunch. The fashion show commences at noon, showcasing the newest fall fashion worn by models provided by Belmont Shore businesses. Proceeds support OJS programs.
Operation Jump Start works with low-income Long Beach students who are the first generation in their families to attend college. A volunteer mentor commits to a five-year relationship with a student and provides support to the student, both academically and in life. In addition to one-on-one mentoring, Operation Jump Start helps maximize the potential of these promising students by providing enrichment programs such as educational workshops and college tours, as well as providing free supportive services, such as counseling, scholarship opportunities and academic tutoring. In its 14-year history, every Operation Jump Start graduate has received a high school diploma and, to date, 97 percent have gone on to college.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the fashion show.
