But, once we opened the doors and made our way into the giant dome that once housed the legendary Spruce Goose, we were surrounded by huge sculptures made of over two million pounds of ice— and those parkas went on.
Temperatures inside the dome drop to 9 degrees, according to the event’s organizers. It’s understandable that it would need to be so cold, considering some of the larger-than-life ice creations reach higher than two stories tall. The sculptures tell the story of Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.
However, the 13,000-square-foot exhibit is not the only feature of Chill, which also boasts an ice-skating rink, a carousel, a walk-through maze, a giant rocking horse, an ice bar for adults, paintball and ice slides.
Some of these activities require an additional payment, but your ticket does give you access to the ship itself and a screening of The Polar Express 4-D Experience in the new Queen Mary 4-D Theater.
