Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) officers arrested two adult females and one adult male on Sunday, Dec. 27 at approximately 8:15am for burglarizing a vacant home in the 1500 block of E. 23rd Street.
During their investigation, officers discovered plastic shopping bags filled with opened mail, sealed mail, miscellaneous credit cards, gift cards, cell phones, speaker boxes, various cords for charging electronic devices, clothes, camping gear, skateboards, bicycles, check books, wallets, driver licenses and U.S. currency and coins inside the vacant home.
In addition, 15 garage-door openers and at least 10 sets of keys were recovered. Based on identifying information and recent crime reports, officers have been able to locate several victims who live in the area and return their property to them, according to the SHPD.
“We continue to seek victims that may be involved,” states a press release from the department. “If you live in the surrounding area of the 1500 block of E. 23rd Street, and if you have been a recent victim of a theft-related crime, especially a residential or vehicular burglary, please contact the Signal Hill Police Department. If you have already reported the incident and are missing items as described above, please contact us to inquire about your property.”
The SHPD is also encouraging residents to close windows, secure homes and lock vehicles— even when parked inside a garage— and to not leave any valuables inside vehicles.
