More Info Thousands of plants, including succulents, vegetables, herbs, shrubs and drought-tolerant varieties, will be available for purchase. A special feature this year will be California-friendly native plants and drought-tolerant “water-wise” plants. The sale will also feature metal BBQs, shepherd poles for hanging plants, plasma art, bird houses and other items created by LBCC’s Fabrication/Welding Club. Members of the community are encouraged to arrive early for best selection. Only cash or check payments can be accepted. Free parking is available in all PCC lots during the plant sale dates. More Info A new photographic exhibition entitled “Black Gold: Oil in the Neighborhood” will be presented. The exhibit, sponsored by the Port of Long Beach and Mitchell Land Company, will explore an industry that helped shape the Long Beach area. The discovery of oil on Signal Hill in 1921 attracted workers from all over the country to work in the fields. A wine-and-cheese reception will be held, with wines from Willmore Bar for $20 to celebrate the opening. RSVPs are requested, but tickets are available at the door.
