In celebration of 70 years of serving the greater Long Beach community, Morry’s of Naples is sponsoring the first-ever “Miss Morry’s Vintage Pin-up Contest” with the winner being crowned on Sunday, November 9 at the Morry’s 70th Anniversary soiree from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will take place at Morry’s, 5764 E. 2nd Street and will benefit benefit the Historical Society of Long Beach.
Each of the five local contestants have put together a classic vintage look with the help of local Long Beach hair salons, inspired by the great pin-ups of the 1930s and ’40s. Each contestant has her own page posted online at www.morrys.com for viewing and voting.
The popular vote is from Saturday October 25 thru Friday November 7 at midnight. Those interested can vote online via email for your favorite girl: Megan Lloyd (working with G’z Beauty Bar), Shani MacMaster (working with Bella Salon), Yolee Murillo (working with Salon Soma), Rachael Tann (working with Shear Pleasure) and Erica Tenaglia (working with 2nd Street Beauty). One vote will be allowed per email address.
The vintage pin-up theme was chosen to honor Morry’s of Naples’ 1938 beginnings and the work the Historical Society does to preserve and collect the history of the city.
Tickets for the black tie/vintage costume event are just $45 per person, and $35 per person for students. The goal is to raise $2,000 to aid the Historical Society.
