Lucas Richman will return to the podium of the Terrace Theater, 300 E. Ocean Blvd. on Saturday, April 30 at 8pm to lead the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra (LBSO).
“We are so pleased to invite Maestro Richman back to Long Beach and have him lead our orchestra again for this program,” states Kelly Ruggirello, executive director of the Long Beach Symphony. “This is one of those concerts that highlights both the Classical and Baroque periods with some of the most beautiful music of all time.”
A highlight of the concert will be the performance of Handel’s Harp Concerto, featuring harpist Marcia Dickstein.
Following intermission, the program will continue with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica,” a composition of great emotional depth, especially known for the Funeral March of the 2nd movement.
Leonard Bernstein once said that the first and second movements are “perhaps the greatest two movements in all symphonic music.”
Guests are encouraged to arrive early for an intimate, pre-concert talk with KUSC’s Rich Caparella, who will discuss elements of all three works with Richman and Dickstein.
The Symphony’s Classical Concert Series is sponsored by Lexus. For more information, or to purchase tickets, which start at $20, visit the Symphony’s website at longbeachsymphony.org or call (562) 436-3203.
