The Port of Long Beach is seeking public comment on an initial study/mitigated negative declaration (IS/MND) and application summary report (ASR) prepared for a fireboat station proposed for the port’s inner harbor at Pier D. A public hearing to take comments on the IS/MND has been set for 5pm Wednesday, May 4 at the port’s interim administrative offices, 4801 Airport Plaza Dr., in the Harbor Commission Boardroom.
The proposed project would relocate a temporary fireboat station into a permanent two-story, 9,416-square-foot building to accommodate a six-member fireboat crew and two firetrucks. The project would include an 18,700-square-foot boat bay with roof enclosure for a fireboat.
The IS/MND concluded that the project’s environmental impacts would be less than significant with mitigation. The documents, which are required under the California Environmental Quality Act and California Coastal Act, are available online at polb.com/ceqa .
The public can comment in person at the May 4 hearing, or in writing until May 16, 2016.
