During the monthly Bixby Knolls First Fridays Art Walk, which will take place May 6, the Expo Art Center, 4321 Atlantic Ave., will be taken over by the bi-annual crafters event, Uptown Village Market. The event will include locally made goods and ideas for Mother’s Day gifts.
Celebrating a theme of “Spring Awakening,” the art walk will also include:
• poets at Nino’s Italian restaurant at 6pm
• Salon Medusa’s annual silent auction with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Surfrider Foundation
• EJ Malloy honoring the late musician Prince with cocktails named in his honor
• A Castle of Books’ book giveaway
• A kids craft zone at Oh Very Young’s new location at 3803 Atlantic Ave.
• The Historical Society of Long Beach’s book-signing with the author of I’m Dying Here, Tim Grobaty, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
• Face-painting at Boardwalk Properties
•Jammin’ Music’s monthly student showcase and jam session
• The Better Half Boutique’s free spring bouquets with every purchase
• Gems & Jewels doing live engraving
• FreeSpirit Yoga featuring the art of Dave the Rainbow and beats provided by Eusebio Akasa and Desirable D
• The “allery” featuring artist Cynthia Lujan
• Also in the allery will be DJ Bix spinning all Prince music
• DJ Bill also playing nothing but Prince songs at Edward Jones
• Metropolitan Design hosting music, refreshments and live body art by Liz Gopwani.
• TALB hosting a night of community with Long Beach Free Store, arts & crafts for kids and free popcorn
• Tuttle Camera’s photo class for $25 from 6pm to 7pm (space is limited)
• Digital Revolution’s Minecraft workshop for $25 (space is limited)
• Elise’s Tea Room hosting a dance party
• Historic Iowa Barber Shop at Esquire Barber Shop
• Homeland Cultural Center hosting pop-locking with Dubs One spinning hip-hop and R&B and the First Fridays spray crew providing art
