The program serves around 8,000 at-risk and low-income students at more than 30 sites across Southern California, according to the event’s organizers.
Over 20 schools will be represented at the event, which will include performances by local students, including ballet, hip-hop, cheer and mariachi.
“The students have been creating and collaborating, with great intention to showcase their work as young artists,” said project director Susie Reveles. “The purpose of this gala is to show the students that their art, intelligence and dedicated skills [are] valued within society. Exposing them to the population as an artist at a young age will empower them to be confident and value self growth.”
The opening of ICES: The Art Gala will take place from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday, June 18. The show will run through Aug. 12 and can be viewed after the opening Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11am to 2pm or by appointment at (562) 533-4020.
