One man was killed and another injured during what appears to be an altercation between the two individuals with a group of people.
On Saturday, Aug. 6, around 6:20pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Anaheim Street and Molino Avenue regarding a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they discovered two male adult subjects who appeared to have been stabbed, and they were transported to a local hospital. One victim had sustained an injury to the upper body and was listed in stable condition. The second victim sustained an injury to the lower body, and he was later pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation determined the victims had been involved in a physical altercation with a group of subjects that escalated into the stabbing. The incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
The deceased victim has been identified as 22-year-old Juan Chavez of Long Beach. The second victim is only being identified as an 18-year-old from Long Beach.
