Last year, more than 10,000 people attended the contest, according to its organizers. This year, eight nationally recognized professional sand sculptors will construct a professional sand sculpture gallery of over four unique sculptures.
New to this year’s contest, a grand prize will be offered for a new contest showcasing the western region’s “most impressive” semi-professional sculptors, according to organizers.
As in prior years, the two-day festival will feature a community competition, a family-friendly kid zone, a food and crafts vendor gallery, live music and a beer, wine and drink garden.
“The Great Sand Sculpture Contest is the ultimate community event— it’s free, family-friendly, fun and organized for a good cause,” said Katie Gaston, Alfredo’s Beach Club Contest chair. “The two-day festival not only offers a variety of activities, but it’s an easy, great way for residents of Southern California to rally support behind a thriving nonprofit providing families the opportunity to be close at the most critical time.”
