“It is truly an honor to be appointed,” Levine said. “The Urban Water Institute provides an important resource to the water industry, and I’m looking forward to contributing the expertise and knowledge about Long Beach to the growth of the organization.”
The Urban Water Institute, Inc., was incorporated as a nonprofit public education organization in California in 1993, with the mission to provide non-partisan, timely and pertinent information of interest to the water resource industry, including public agencies and private firms, with particular emphasis on water economics, management and resource policies as they affect consumers and the general economy.
The Institute is governed by a volunteer board of 34 directors composed of policy makers, elected officials and industry leaders who are active in the water-resources industry.
Levine is the host of Straight Talk, a cable talk show seen in Long Beach and 70 Southern California cities and starting its 25th year on air. He served on the faculty of Cal State Long Beach for 40 years before retiring in 2014 to become professor emeritus of Ethics and Legal Studies. Levine is a graduate of Leadership Long Beach Class of 2003 and has served on the board of numerous organizations, including the Long Beach Police Foundation and the California Conference for Equality and Justice.
