The Long Beach Chorale (LBC) kicks off its 20th anniversary season with “A California Christmas.” The concert, under the direction of artistic director Eliza Rubenstein, will be presented on Saturday, December 13 at 7 pm at Los Altos United Methodist Church, and on Sunday, December 14 at 4 pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
The program will feature Conrad Susa’s Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest. Other pieces include: Kirke Mechem’s The Seven Joys of Christmas, featuring pianist Bob Gunn; works by Emma Lou Diemer and Rebekah Griffin; and solo harpist Brian Noel. Familiar tunes and new sounds make this a concert for every age and taste.
Upcoming performances include a Handel and Mendelssohn concert in March, and an anniversary concert in June featuring alumni singers.
General admission is $15, or $13 with valid student identification. Visit www.longbeachchorale.org, or call the Chorale at (562) 427-1931 for more information.
