EDCO waste-collection and recycling company will offer free disposal of fat, oil and grease (FOG) left over from Thanksgiving cooking.
Residents are asked to collect used, discarded FOG in a leak-proof container and drop it off at EDCO’s buyback center, 2755 California Ave. The center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am to 4pm, but it will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
The FOG will ultimately be processed, filtered and converted into biofuel by a third-party processor, according to EDCO.
“It is important that participants do not mix FOG with any other oils, such as motor oil or gear oil, that inhibit the process of converting the FOG into biofuel,” EDCO wrote in a press release this week.
