Serving as a community art space, the “Goods Gallery”is a temporary gallery and outdoor courtyard made from three re-purposed cargo shipping containers. It is located at the corner of Long Beach Boulevard and Broadway in downtown Long Beach and is now open for special events, meetings and exhibits.
Groups are invited to apply to host their events and art shows every Saturday from December 13th, 2008 through January 31st, 2009. There is no rental fee and applications may be submitted at www.goodsgallerylb.com.
“The Goods Gallery is a modular space with many uses,” said gallery coordinator Evan Kelly. “It’s great for fundraisers, art exhibits, beer gardens, live bands and community meetings.”
“This is a true public-private partnership,” said Ryan Smolar, project coordinator. “We created a temporary mobile structure and activated a public space with the community’s art and cultural events. This is

The interiors of three cargo containers (connected in a U-shape) have been converted into gallery space with approximately 150 linear feet of wall space. The three containers surround an open courtyard, perfect for
receptions or presentations, and the surrounding space can also be utilized for outdoor activities. Amenities include two dedicated portable restrooms, electricity, free parking (on Saturdays), an open courtyard and
ADA-accessibility.
The gallery was originally created by Smolarcorp in October 2008 with ISM: A Community Project for the dowtown arts/culture event, University by the Sea. However, the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency and Long Beach
Department of Special Events & Filming have allowed Smolarcorp to operate and maintain the gallery for community use through January 31, 2009.
