SHPD to conduct DUI checkpoint

The Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) traffic unit will conduct a DUI-driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location beginning at 8:30pm on Friday, Dec. 16 until 2:30am on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment while checking drivers for proper licensing, according to SHPD. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.
Funding for the checkpoint is provided by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
