Signal Hill Petroleum appoints new VP of Community Relations, Real-Estate Operations

(SHP), a privately owned energy company, this week announced the promotion of Debra Russell to vice president of Community Relations and Real-Estate Operations.
In her multi-faceted role, Russell manages real-estate operations, government affairs and urban seismic ventures, and she leads SHP’s community-relations team.
“Debra has been a key part of our success, and this promotion is a great representative of her important, diverse role in our company,” said David Slater, vice president and COO of SHP.
Russell has been responsible for the planning and execution of multiple annual community events from the Long Beach Movies in the Park program to the Signal Hill Police Foundation. She has also grown the company’s giving efforts, coordinating donations that support the education of the oil and gas industry, the teaching of ethical business practices, local police departments, parks and schools, according to SHP.
In addition to her role and responsibilities locally— serving on the boards for the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, The Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership at California State University Long Beach and Signal Hill Police Foundation— Russell is SHP’s representative for the California Independent Petroleum Association.
Russell earned her bachelor’s degree in international business from California State University, Fresno. Today she lives in Signal Hill with her husband and their two children.
