Street-smart
Parking has always been a challenge in the 1st District, and identifying new opportunities for parking has been one of the primary issues in our office. I am happy to report that we have two new streets where we will be able to convert parallel parking into diagonal parking and gain dozens of new spaces.
Forty-three diagonal parking stalls will be added in the West PAC neighborhood on Harbor between Parade St. and 20th Street.
Fifteen diagonal parking stalls will be added in the West Gateway neighborhood on Magnolia between Broadway and 3rd Street.
These spaces, in addition to the 48 new diagonal spaces we were able to add on 9th Street in North Pine, total over 106 new spaces that we have been able to create in the past 18 months.
Know a street that you think could benefit from diagonal parking? Have a concern you would like to share?
Please feel free to contact my office any time. We can be reached at (562) 570-6919 or district1@longbeach.gov.
