Through April 9, some Long Beach Transit (LBT) bus routes will be on detour because of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, according to the transit company.
Customers should expect some delays in service due to the congestion in downtown Long Beach. Race fans and aquarium visitors are encouraged to avoid driving and parking congestion by taking LBT’s scenic water taxi service from April 7 to April 9.
Bus service
April 7
Passport route will be on detour. No LBT service to Shoreline Village, the Pike Outlets or along Pine Avenue south of Ocean Boulevard. Passport will still serve The Queen Mary and the Aquarium of the Pacific. Special additional Route 121 service will operate from 2nd Street at Marina Drive to the Grand Prix Entrance to accommodate the additional customers utilizing the route.
April 8
Passport route will be on detour.
No LBT service to Shoreline Village, the Pike Outlets or along Pine Avenue south of Ocean Boulevard. Passport will still serve The Queen Mary and the Aquarium of the Pacific. Routes 61, 71 and 72 be on detour in the downtown area. Buses will operate on 1st Street instead of Ocean Boulevard.
Because of the detour, the following bus stops will not be served by Route 61: Ocean Boulevard at Atlantic Avenue northeast; Ocean Boulevard at Elm Street northwest; Ocean Boulevard at Long Beach Boulevard northwest; and Pacific Avenue at Ocean Boulevard northeast.

Water-taxi service

AquaBus
LBT AquaBus will operate approximately every 45 minutes from 8:05am to 8:35pm.
AquaBus will pick up and drop off at: The Queen Mary; Hotel Maya; Aquarium of the Pacific (Rainbow Harbor Dock 4); and Shoreline Village (Rainbow Harbor Dock 9)
From Dock 4, customers will walk left for the aquarium and right for the Grand Prix; a Grand Prix ticket can be purchased at the entry gate.
From Dock 9, a Grand Prix ticket can be purchased at the entry gate.
AquaBus will not stop at Rainbow Harbor Dock 7 for the Grand Prix.
Fare is $1 one way. Cash-only purchases are available the entire service day while boarding the water taxi. Credit card purchases are not available.
AquaLink
LBT AquaLink will operate approximately every 40 minutes from 8am to 10:20pm.
AquaLink will operate an express service between Alamitos Bay Landing (Berth 3— adjacent to Boathouse on the Bay) and the Aquarium of the Pacific (Rainbow Harbor Dock 4).
From Dock 4, customers will walk left for the aquarium and right for the Grand Prix; a Grand Prix ticket can be purchased at the entry gate.
AquaLink will not stop at The Queen Mary dock and the Belmont Pier for the Grand Prix.
Fare is $15 for one-day all-access LBT wristband pass. It allows for unlimited rides on the AquaLink, AquaBus and all LBT regular buses.
