The 2017 art auction— titled “City of Dreams” — will feature works by emerging and established Latin-American and Chicano artists such as Frank Romero, Raúl Anguiano, John Valadez, Esterio Segura, Arnaldo Roche Rabell and Christina Toro, among others.
Menduina Schneider Gallery, 366 West 7th St. in San Pedro, is honoring the artists it has shown that have also been selected for the auction— Saul Ayala, Roberto Gatti, Monica Carbonell, Marcela Lopez and Marta Morgenroth— by showcasing an array of Latin-American masters and also hosting a solo show of Argentinian artist Marisa Moscoso.
“Perhaps the biggest acheivement for an art gallery is to launch and elevate the works of its artists,” reads a statement from Menduina Schneider Gallery owners Jorge and Alejandra Schneider. “And there’s no more coveted place to do so than a museum. We’re thrilled that the Museum of Latin American Art decided to include five of our artists in their 2017 gala and auction night to be held this May. As a gallery, we are proud to have a bond with the museum and to help raise funds for its operations.”
Those interested in attending the preview auction on May 5 should RSVP by emailing lbueno@molaa.org. More information on the art available in the auction— including absentee bidding— is available through Edward Hayes at ehayes@molaa.org.
