Residents of all ages showed up and dug in last Saturday to help plant magnolia trees on Long Beach Boulevard. The event was organized by the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, in conjunction with the City of Long Beach Department of Public Works, as part of the BKBIA’s “Beautify the Boulevard” program. Volunteers dug holes, planted and mulched the trees, which were provided by the City of Long Beach. John Royce of California Heights Releaf led the planting and gave instructions to the volunteers.
