From February through March, the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network’s Career Transition Center will be hosting testing sessions for the United States Census Bureau. The Census Bureau will be testing for various full and part-time positions to be located at the Early Local Census Office in Long Beach. Salaries range from $11.75-$18.50 per hour depending on the position. The Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network is administered by the City of Long Beach.
There are three steps to the application process:
1. All applicants must call 866.861.2010, at least 48 hours prior to any of the testing dates listed above to learn about the entire application process and to reserve a seat.
2. All applicants should take the Practice Test to prepare. Simply log onto www.google.com, type “census 2010 practice test” into the search field and click on the first listing that comes up.
3. All applicants must be registered with the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network prior to attending the testing session. To save time, applicants can pre-register at the Career Transition Center, 3447 Atlantic Ave., or at the Center for Working Families, 1900 Atlantic Ave. Registration will also be available at the testing session.
To register, bring the following information:
* State ID / Driver’s License AND Social Security Card
* OR School ID Card (with birth date) AND Social Security Card
* OR School ID Card (without birth date) AND Social Security Card AND birth certificate
* OR U.S. Passport AND any proof of Social Security Number (Social Security card, school printout).
* If applicable, bring unexpired Permanent Resident Card (Green Card).
* Males born on or after January 1, 1960, must be registered with the Selective Service. For information call (847) 688-3117 or visit www.sss.gov.
To qualify for the positions, individuals must be US citizens and 18 years of age or older; pass a background/fingerprint check; and pass the Census Bureau’s written exam.
The next testing dates are February 2, 9, & 23, 2009. Testing begins promptly at 10:00 am at the Career Transition Center, 3447 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach. Registered applicants should arrive one hour early.
