Something smells fishy in Signal Hill.
The question is why did Mayor Ed Wilson decide to change city procedure? (“Two SH commissions continue to be underrepresented,” June 2, 2017) Why did he choose not to reappoint the commissioners who have worked hard for this well run city for decades? How insulting not to reappoint the commissioners yet ask them to stay until he could come up with someone he considered better.
Why did he only choose to interview and ask only one question— which was “Do you want an elected mayor?” — and [leave] the city council out of the interview process? Why does he want the mayorship to be an elected position so badly? Is this an issue of greed and not accountability?
Why is it necessary for a town of 11,000-plus to see our taxes go up to pay for a mayor we cannot afford?
Something is fishy and needs to be voted on by city council.
