Spotlight on Advertisers : Sweet Treasures

In a tribute to award winning plush brand, Gund, Sweet Treasures Kids, located at 4226 Atlantic Avenue in Bixby Knolls, will be replicating a Gund classic window display from 1928. The original display, which appeared at Grand Central Station in New York City, featured plush dogs and cats and will be re-created using the stores own stock of Gund toys. Based on a photo found in a Gund catalogue, Sweet Treasures owner, Monique Johnson, and Visual Merchandiser Beth Giles, have been planning for months and have been searching for materials, creating color schemes and mapping out floor plans for weeks, to re-create the display.
The display will be revealed Friday at 2 p.m. and will start off a chain of events leading up to an in-store event Monday, July 24, that will pay homage to the 1920s with 20 percent off the entire store–shoppers can purchase plush toys at the equivalent of the 1928 price of 99 cents.
There will also be games and prizes, penny, nickel and dime candy, free drinks and refreshments, and 1920s ragtime music. The store will countdown to the main event by having different treats and activities throughout the next month. The schedule is as follows: Monday to Friday, June 22, is Adopt a Pet Week; Monday, July 9, to Wednesday, July 13, is Candy and Toy Trivia Day; Saturday, July 16, is Cotton Candy Day; Monday, July 18, is Popcorn Day; Wednesday, July 20, is Hot Dog Day and Thursday, July 21, is Circus Day.
