Bud Kilsby died peacefully at Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 1, 2009. He was a member of the First Congregational and the husband of Mary Ellen Kilsby, Senior Minister Emerita of the church.
The South Coast Interfaith Council has expressed its gratitude for Bud’s invaluable contributions to interfaith work. He was a member of the Investment Committee for the Endowment of the South Coast Interfaith Council, served on the Board of the Good Samaritan Counseling Center, was a founding member of Claremont, Calif. Methodist Church as well as the Mercer Island, Washington Methodist Church. In addition, he served on the finance board of the local Girl Scouts Council; as assistant treasurer of the First Congregational Church of Long Beach; and on the audit committee of the Long Beach Museum of Art.
Bud inspired many lives in our community and will be remembered for his faith in people, so many times giving of his time and means to truly help others in need.
He is survived by his wife, four grown children and 11 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3pm at First Congregational Church, 241 Cedar Avenue.
