A 72-year-old female resident of Long Beach is dead after the car she was driving collided with a parked car, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
On Monday, Aug. 21, at 9:35pm, officers responded to the 2200 block of Golden Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision. When they arrived, they discovered a 2005 Hyundai Elantra resting on its passenger side in the middle of the road. Long Beach Fire Department personnel extricated the victim from the vehicle and transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation indicated the Hyundai the woman was driving was traveling northbound on Golden Avenue when it struck an unoccupied Toyota Corolla parked on the east curb at a slow rate of speed, resulting in minimal vehicular damage. The woman, who was alone in the Hyundai, was not seatbelted and was lying unconscious inside the vehicle. There were no witnesses to the collision.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
