Eight-year-old Arianna Felix of Wilmington, looks outside a bedroom window in Long Beach’s Miller Children’s Hospital’s west wing renovation Friday. Miller Children’s West, as hospital staff call it, recently added 27 new general pediatric beds, bringing it to 54 total for the wing, which sits on the west end of the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center campus.
The addition replaces office space, which has been moved off site, hospital spokesman Kevin Kimbrough said.
The remodeling took about 10 months to complete and all the beds should be filled by October, Kimbrough said.
