LB Transit offering free rides on New Year's Eve

Long Beach Transit (LBT) will offer complimentary bus service on New Year’s Eve beginning at 4pm on Sunday, Dec. 31 and extending through the scheduled final departure of each route early Monday morning, Jan. 1.
The promotion encourages the community to make responsible plans by taking public transit to and from festivities in Long Beach to avoid drinking and driving, according to LBT.
The free service was made available in part by Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) in promotion of the New Year’s Eve events in and around downtown Long Beach. One of the events includes a family-friendly celebration and fireworks display at Rainbow Harbor along the waterfront.
“Being safe doesn’t mean you can’t have fun, and Long Beach Transit will be there on New Year’s Eve to get you safely to your destination,” said LBT Deputy Chief Executive Officer Debra A. Johnson. “Celebrate until late-night, and let LBT get you home.”
LBT’s New Year’s Eve schedule is modified with later hours and shorter distances. More information can be found at lbtransit.com or by calling LBT’s customer service team at (562) 591-2301 Monday through Friday from 7am to 6pm, Saturday from 8am to 5pm, or by visiting the Transit & Visitor Information Center at 1st Street and Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach.
