Joseph D. Borra was chosen as Elk of the Month for February at B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 888. Born December 16, 1936, in Santa Monica, and raised and raised in Culver City, he attended St. Augustines Catholic School and graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles.
He went to work for Vons, where he worked a total of 50 years. He was part of the National Guard unit in Culver City from 1962 to 1969. Borra moved to Huntington Beach with his wife in 1965 where they still live.
He bought a second home in Big Bear in 1979 where his three children and
four grandchildren enjoy the summers and winters in the snow.
Borra was initiated into Lodge No. 888 on January 25, 1988, in the Dome Building on Willow Street. He was elected to the Office of Tiler in the Lodge Year 1998-1999 and served in this office until March 31, 2007. He is a member of the Golf Committee. When the Breakfast Committee was formed he started working on this Committee and is still one of the cooks. He was also a member of the Auditing Committee for several years.
