Long Beach man killed in shooting

A local man is dead after a shooting earlier this week, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
On Monday, March 12, at approximately 4:30pm, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Wesley Drive regarding a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Further investigation determined that there had been a physical confrontation between multiple subjects prior to the shooting. The incident is being investigated as gang-related.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Richard Van of Long Beach.
