At least 30,000 Dreamers renew DACA applications after State secures injunction

A quarterly report from the federal government on DACA applications has revealed that at least 30,000 Dreamers have been able to renew their DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) status and secure two more years of DACA protection, according to California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office.
On Tuesday night, by court order, United Citizenship and Immigration Services produced data on the number of DACA applications that have been renewed or await a pending decision as a result of the nationwide injunction Becerra secured in January. As a result of the injunction, the court ordered the federal government to publish updated statistics. In addition, approximately 30,000 DACA applications remain pending, according to Becerra’s office.
“As a result of the nationwide injunction we secured, at least 30,000 Dreamers who have renewed their DACA status— our colleagues, our classmates, our teachers— can go home to their loved ones at night and keep helping build a better America,” Becerra said. “I’ll keep fighting at every turn in court for Dreamers’ rights and opportunities, so they may continue to make meaningful contributions in California and beyond.”
