A man was shot and killed at a Long Beach park on the afternoon of Saturday, July 21, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
At 4:26pm that day, officers were dispatched to the shooting in the 5100 block of E. Centralia Street, where they located a male adult victim who had been shot by a male adult suspect, police said. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and determined the victim was deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in the park restroom when the suspect shot him in the upper torso.
After the shooting, the suspect fled the park on foot. The motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
Other media report that the victim was attending a family reunion when he was shot.
The identity of the victim is unknown at this time and will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
