Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers are investigating a motive in the shooting death of a male adult Friday, Sept. 14, at the 1200 block of Chestnut Avenue, according to a department press release.
At approximately 11:40pm, LBPD officers were dispatched to Chestnut Avenue in regard to a shooting. When officers arrived, a male victim, struck in the upper torso by gunfire, was found on the sidewalk. The Long Beach Fire Department determined the man deceased at the scene, according to the LBPD.
The LBPD wrote that officers are investigating the incident as possibly gang-related, but the suspect’s or suspects’ intentions are not clear.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will determine the identity of the victim, and its officials will make notifications to next of kin.
