Last Saturday’s second annual Wrigley River Run and Tadpole Trot generated more than $25,000 in donations and registrations from the community. The event’s organizing entity, the Long Beach Neighborhood Foundation (LBNF), reports that more than 525 people participated in the three events: the 5K, 10K and Tadpole Trot kids run. “The support we received for this event shows that there is a demand for family-friendly community events in this city outside of downtown and Belmont Shore, where the overwhelming majority of events in Long Beach currently take place,” said LBNF President Gavin Mc Kiernan. Proceeds from the Run will be donated to support programs that benefit at-risk youth in Long Beach, including the AVID scholarships at local high schools.
