Diane DeWalsche, chief operating officer (COO) for Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB), recently received the Long Beach City College’s (LBCC) President’s Award for Outstanding Service as a governor of the LBCC Foundation. DeWalsche is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospital as well as strategic planning, budget development and collaboration with strategic partners.
A nurse by training and profession, DeWalsche joined the CHLB staff in 1966. By combining her skills as both a nurse and administrator, DeWalsche has played an important part in the hospital’s success in providing the best medical care possible for Long Beach residents. DeWalsche’s strong leadership skills have allowed her to successfully guide the hospital staff’s efforts in handling the increasing responsibilities required to maintain high quality care in the face of growing demands of today’s healthcare industry.
In addition to serving as governor for the LBCC Foundation Board, DeWalsche also serves as a commissioner on the Long Beach Economic Development Commission. She is vice president of the LBCC Foundation’s awards and scholarships board, and a member of the Leadership Long Beach Board, a former chair and current active member and mentor for a re-entry woman with CAMEO, a professional auxiliary of the Assistance League of Long Beach. DeWalsche is a member of Soroptimist International and the CHLB Employees Foundation Committee and a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization.
DeWalsche received her associate’s degree in nursing from LBCC, her Bachelor of Health Services from Chapman University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. In 2005, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the CHLB Foundation.
