The Long Beach City College (LBCC) Child Development Center (CDC) has recently announced its renewed sponsorship of the Child Care Food Program, which will allow all eligible children enrolled in its childcare program to receive nutritious food at no extra cost.
“The children will again be served wonderful morning and afternoon snacks, as well as nutritious lunches, while receiving high-quality child care,” said Charline Lang, coordinator of the Child Development Centers at the college.
The main mission of Child Care Food Program is to supply the funds for healthy meals for low-income families in childcare facilities, after-school programs and shelters at no extra cost. Founded in 1968, the program is federally funded, providing reimbursements for the cost of the food, training in childcare nutrition and onsite assistance.
The LBCC CDC is designed for children between the ages of two and five whose parents are students, faculty, staff or community members, and it has locations to serve both of LBCC’s campuses: one at 305 E. Pacific Coast Highway on the Pacific Coast Campus and another at 4630 Clark Ave., near the Liberal Arts Campus. Hours of operation for both are 7am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.
