Practicing what’s preached
I read with interest Congresswoman Laura Richardson’s compliments to
facilities in Signal Hill operated by Signal Hill Petroleum. The
congresswoman remarked that: “Everything is painted and landscaped
well…They are very thoughtful of the surrounding neighborhoods and go to
great lengths to make sure that their operations do not inconvenience the
people who live in the vicinity…”
However, as recently as June 2009, the residents of the upscale Curtis Park
area of Sacramento have reportedly bitterly complained that the
congresswoman has abandoned her former home there and left it in disrepair.
It is allegedly in need of paint and has a bedraggled lawn. Residents there
reportedly said they have unsuccessfully sent letters and emails to the congresswoman and to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to either have the “eyesore” sold or allow it to go into foreclosure.
