Nonprofit to award four scholarships to LB students

On Friday, June 7, the Downtown Lions Club of Long Beach will award five $2,000 scholarships to a student from each of the following fiveschools– Long Beach City College and St. Anthony, Poly, Wilson and Jordan high schools.

The students are:

• Jordan High School– Roberto Andrade-Moreno
• Poly High School– Lucila Alexis Barron
• St. Anthony High School– Christina Marsh
• Wilson High School– Max Phillip Rowland
• Long Beach City College– Lawrence Darrington

The scholarships will be presented at the club’s annual scholarship program held at noon at The Grand, 4101 E Willow Ave. The Downtown Lions Club is currently the longest continuous donor to Long Beach City College, nonprofit officials said.

The Downtown Lions Club of Long Beach is a nonprofit service club established in Long Beach in 1921. The club is a group of men and women who work together in an attempt to identify and fulfill the needs of the community of Long Beach.
