High-Five from District 5
What a thrill to read the news release that Senator Alan Lowenthal selected you the 2009 Small Business Honoree at the California Small Business Association luncheon.
You and the Signal Tribune staff are wonderful examples of how dedicated community-based newspapers can impact society through ethical and professional reporting while keeping the community informed about their city and neighborhoods.
Congratulations on your contributions to Signal Hill and the greater Long Beach community and my personal thanks for the interest you take in the 5th District events.

A Chair-itable Cause
It was an amazing experience for me to see the children at both Signal Hill Las Brisas and the Long Beach Olive Avenue childcare centers play with the Foamables furniture. This is why I have worked in the toy industry for over 20 years. To see the children’s faces light up when they began to play with the furniture was truly fulfilling.
Helping children in our local communities is very important to me and my company, Dynamic Designworks, Inc (DDW). I have to thank the Signal Tribune for supporting our local communities and for covering our story on Foamables [“Local businesswoman turns lightweight kids furniture into sweet charity,” Aug. 7, 2009].
I had the pleasure of meeting Farah Naz Khalegi, who does a phenomenal job of running these centers along with her amazing staff. These centers provide our communities with an outlet to help children have an educational experience they may not otherwise receive without their help. Thank you again for allowing DDW to be part of this extraordinary cause.
