A 39-year-old Long Beach man was killed while riding a bicycle on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Long Beach, authorities said Sept. 14.
It happened about 10pm Friday on the northbound San Diego Freeway south of Woodruff Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer R. Long said.
Investigators determined the man was riding a Schwinn bicycle in the auxiliary lane when he was struck by a 2007 Lexus driven by an 83-year-old Long Beach man.
Paramedics pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene, Long said.
The man’s name was not released pending notification of kin, coroner’s Lt. David Smith said.
