SH photographer’s fundraiser to help local children’s clinic

Local fine-art portrait photographer Linnea Lenkus will host a fundraiser at her Signal Hill photography studio on Saturday, Nov. 21. Lenkus recently completed a photography project and art exhibit entitled Healing, which depicted images of families of patients treated at The Stramski Center— a local children’s clinic for developmental disorders which is part of Miller Children’s Hospital.
“This is the season of giving, and this fundraiser is my attempt to help out as much as I can,” said Lenkus. “The Stramski Center is such an amazing place because they’ve helped so many families in need. I’ll be photographing dads or moms dressed in our Santa suits with their children for a donation. I came up with that idea when my kids were young and were afraid of the mall Santa. My blog has a photo that I did of my husband and my son at that time. Now it’s time to break out and create this kind of portrait for other parents.”
The event will be at Linnea Lenkus Fine Art Portrait Studios but will require an appointment so that there is minimal waiting. For a minimum $30 donation, parents will receive a 5×7. Interested parents should call the photography studio office at (562) 981-8900 for directions and information.
