The 5th Council District is searching for residents and organizations that make exceptional contributions to our community.
You can honor these contributors with a nomination for the annual 5th Council District Good Neighbor Awards. During the 5th District Good Neighbor Festival and Picnic on Sept. 23, Councilmember Gerrie Schipske will be honoring the ongoing efforts of those who make a difference since September is National Good Neighbor Month.
“The Good Neighbor Awards are my way of thanking the residents and organizations who are committed to improving the quality of life in our 5th Council District,” Schipske said.
Nominees may be recommended by a family member, friend or neighbor who wishes to recognize someone who has enhanced the neighborhood by doing a good deal or providing a community service.
To submit a nomination follow the link online at: www.longbeach.gov/district5 or obtain a form from Schipske’s neighborhood office.
The application should be completed along with a description of no more than 300 words describing what the nominee has done that makes them a candidate for the Good Neighbor Award. Eligible nominations for the 2006-2007 year must be submitted to Councilmember Schipske’s office no later than Aug. 10.
Nominees are sought in three categories: youth, adult and organizations which have made significant contributions to our neighborhoods in 2006-2007. Their actions must go beyond the scope of citizen responsibilities.
Finalists will be selected from the pool of nominated candidates. These winners will receive their award at the Good Neighbor Festival and Picnic on Sept. 23 at El Dorado Park, 2800 Studebaker Road.
